📌Patient with acute subdural hematoma, intubated and under volume-controlled mechanical ventilation (VCV).
Scenario:
35-year-old male, 1.85 m tall, in the immediate postoperative period following acute subdural hematoma drainage after traumatic brain injury, is on VCV mode. Your task will be to apply capnography monitoring and interpret the findings. In this exercise, you will:
Assess whether the capnography curve is consistent with normal physiology.
Identify the observed ETCO₂ value.
Interpret the difference between P(a–et)CO₂.
💡An excellent training to deepen your knowledge of capnography in patients with acute neurological injury.
