A 72 year old woman with aspiration pneumonia was mechanically ventilated on pressure controlled ventilation (PCV). The attending physician noted respiratory discomfort and the following curves were seen on ventilator's screen.

The pulmonary auscultation revealed no adventitious sounds, and the endotracheal tube had been recently aspirated with copious purulent secretions.
